A few simple clicks will solve problem

Question:

Every time I turn on my computer it shows me my user name and I have to click on it in order to log into Windows. Is there anyway I can bypass this so that when I turn my computer on, it automatically goes straight to windows.

Answer:

This is a great question and in fact we have had a number of people enquire about this exact issue so I think it's finally time to put this one to rest. Basically what is happening here is we are adjusting the windows settings to allow one particular user name to sign in automatically. To change this setting it requires a few very basic steps that you can follow and overcome this annoyance on your own.

Click the "START" button on the bottom left hand corner of your desktop and click on "Run" OR you can use a shortcut by pressing the "Windows key and R" at the same time.
Once the "Run" menu is open, type "control userpasswords2" and click "OK".
Next "Uncheck" the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
Next you need to "click" on the main "user name" that you want to be automatically logged in which is located in window below the check box.
Click "apply"
If the user name you chose has a password you will need to enter it in the prompt, if there is no password then leave the password field blank. Click "OK"

Note: If you ever change your password in the future you will need to repeat these steps again.

After completing these steps you can restart your computer so that the changes take place and your computer should log into Windows automatically. If you choose to have your computer automatically log in under a specific user but you have more than one user and you want to switch users during a windows session you can simply take the necessary steps to log off and switch users at that point.

Good luck and keep emailing us these great questions so we can continue helping you with your computer related needs.
